On Friday 5th of January, we got to visit Faisal's Abdullah's exhibition, His exhibition was all about him: his identity, past and future, One work I particularity liked was the subversion of The Last Meal where he replaced Jesus' disciples with black figures he admires such as his friends and family. Faisal also talked about being a Barber and being educated in an environment like a Barber and facing injustice in the industry such always having to explain your work to others whilst other artists didn't need to - he wanted people to be curious about his work. One thing that stuck with me from his story is when he was talking about how education doesn't always have to take place in a classroom. Faisal then asked us questions about ourselves then we used those answers to create an exhibition about ourselves. For the exhibition, I took pictures of my feet standing at the edge of a pavement because I think it visually describes me. Others took photos of their selves or photos of others and I found it interesting how we all had different interpretations of a self portrait, Although I was nervous at the start, I really enjoyed it at the end and was really proud of our exhibition.
