Ameena Rojee is a young contemporary photographer who is very interested in journeys. She visited us and talked to us about her photography journey. She talked about taking chances, doing things that are out of your comfort zone in both photography and life. I really like her work as I think there's a lot of bravery and I think exploring and doing different things is important for a photographer to do which is what she does.
AMMEENA ROJEE'S ASSIGNMENT
In this task I took an aimless walk around town. At first, I wanted to just capture colour and the light but it wasn't sunny for a long time so instead I focused on geometric shapes and patterns. I found this task a little difficult because many people gave me weird looks but I was happy with my result so it was worth it in the end. My favourite image is the first one. I really like the gradient of contrast in this image and the vibrant colour surrounded by the dark mundane colours. When editing these images, I added some grain to them making them look old and as if it was shot on film. I think this makes the images visually more interesting especially when it is something mundane like the third image.
WALK #1
WALK #2
In this walk my images turned out to be based on a lot of chance. For example, the sky scrapers, the shadow of the bird on the wall and the shadows but these types of images turned out to be the best images. I edited the last set because I felt like Black and White really brought out the contrast, shadows which makes it visually interesting.
